OTOLOGY – is a branch of medicine which studies normal and pathological anatomy and physiology of the ear which include hearing and vestibular sensory systems and related structures as well as their diseases, diagnoses and treatments.

NEUROTOLOGY – is a branch of medicine which studies and treats neurological disorders of the ear. It is a sub-specialty of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, and is closely related to Otology. It specializes in neurological conditions of the ear, related structures, and lateral skull base surgery.
