At University Otolaryngology’s Center for Vestibular and Balance Disorders, we offer Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy as a treatment option for our patients diagnosed with vestibular and balance disorders. Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy is a form of physical therapy that utilizes customized exercises to address specific areas of the individual’s vestibular/balance disorder. The individual goals of vestibular rehabilitation therapy vary, depending on the type, cause, and the duration of vertigo or other related symptoms such as disequilibrium. Our physical therapist will work with you to develop a program to meet your specific needs.
Some of the objectives of the physical therapy are:
- Reduce and/or eliminate symptoms
- Restore balance
- Facilitate normal gait patterns
- Facilitate normal functional mobility in all settings
- Reduce/prevent falling
